In 2008, Holland Hahn & Wills along with a group of other like-minded professionals formed a study group to connect their firms. These advisers faced similar business challenges as they moved from a traditional financial services model to an independent fee-based advisory business. They also had compatible investment beliefs and high standards for client service and fiduciary responsibility.

The members began meeting periodically to share investment information and discuss business strategy. They also challenged one another to maintain high standards of business integrity and professional accountability. Over time, they discovered that by pooling their knowledge they were able to create robust lower-cost investment strategies and achieve economies of scale unavailable to individual firms.

In April 2015 the founding members decided to officially name the association as The Trusted Adviser Group® (TAG). Our organization has members throughout the UK.

Today, many financial services providers offer fee-based services. But TAG member firms are in a class by themselves. As strong believers in wealth management, lifestyle financial planning and an evidence-based asset management, we want to spread the word about how this approach will maximise the chances of you successfully achieving your financial goals.

Chartered Financial Planner, Chartered MCSI, Certified Financial Planner. Simon began advising clients in 1986 and was a founding partner of Surrey-based Holland Hahn & Wills in 1990.

As well as being a Chartered Financial Planner and Certified Financial Planner, Simon is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, is registered with the FCA as a pension transfer specialist and holds the CII G60 and K10 qualifications in pension transfers and pensions drawdown.

Simon is one of the few financial advisers also qualified in Investment Portfolio Management. He is a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (MCSI).

A Chartered and Certified Financial Planner Iain is also a graduate of Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh) with a BA in Accountancy and Finance.

Iain has worked with a very stable number of clients for over 23 years as financial planner.

A member of the Heriots 1979 1st Division league winning side, Iain is keen runner and enjoys keeping fit. He also participates in challenging events to raise money for charities - having completed the London Marathon (twice) as well as the New York City Marathon, trekked to Everest Base Camp as well as the Annapurna circuit. He has recently taken up triathlon events and is planning to cycle from London to Brussels to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer.

Williams Farrall Woodward was established in 1995 by three partners; David V. Williams, Steven Farrall and Tyrone Woodward. Tyrone retired from the Partnership some years ago and David retired in 2015, although he is staying on as a Consultant for at least 12 months.

Steve’s first career was as a design Engineer in Civil Engineering. But by 1984 he had decided that he really wanted to run his own business and after some false starts realised that there was an opportunity in retail financial services to deliver advice on a fee rather than a commission basis.

He set about building his business and was among the first people to pursue professional qualifications. WFW is now well established and services about 350 core clients with many more being looked after on an ad hoc basis. We will carry out single one off pieces of work as well as provide a financial planning service over time. We have three qualified advisers and one trainee with four support staff.

For light relief Steve has four passions. His family. His home. Economics and politics. And motor sport, where he has engineered and raced historic sports cars for over 35 years and intends to keep doing so for as long as possible. His wife now insists that he must take actual holidays, which is a novelty he now finds he enjoys. He has four daughters and three grandchildren.

Steve is active in the retail financial services world where he is a formation committee member of a new trade association. He is very engaged in challenging the extent and costs of regulation. And he contributes regularly to the trade press.

Andrew has been practising as an Independent Financial Adviser for over 30 years. He was educated at Sherborne's Abbey and Fosters School, Christ's Hospital and Manchester University, before successfully training as a State Registered Nurse.

In 1982 he was co-founder, with his father, of Harry Fort Insurance Brokers. In 2005 Andrew set up Fort Financial Planning which he runs from a purpose-built office in the grounds of his home. In October 2007 Andrew decided to concentrate solely on Fort Financial Planning.

In addition to an honours degree in Economics, Andrew is also a member of the Society of Financial Advisers, having passed his advanced Financial Planning Certificate. According to the Chartered Insurance Institute, only 6% of qualified financial advisers hold this level of qualification.

Andrew is one of a very small band of Independent Financial Advisers to hold both the internationally recognised Certified Financial Planner (CFPcm) and Chartered Financial Planner qualifications

Jeremy was one of the first IFAs in Scotland to pioneer a move to a fee basis and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM professional in 2007. In 2014 Jeremy also became a Chartered Financial Planner and is now one of only a handful of advisers, in Scotland, to hold each qualification.

It was in 2000 that Jeremy established Brett Investment and this has since grown to be the leading wealth management and financial planning firm in the Scottish Borders.

In 2008 and again in 2011, Brett Investment was one of only five firms to be short-listed for the New Model Adviser of the Year Award (Scotland and Northern Ireland).

Typically Jeremy works best with business owners and those in or within 15 years of retirement.

Jeremy lives in Melrose and is married to Shona with whom he has three children.
